Don't miss it, go there now!!!   WORLD NEWS: Progress Made On Unisex Pill Scientists believe they could be set to create a single contraceptive pill for men and women.They have pinpointed a protein which allows sperm to move by beating their tails.Any future drug would block the protein and immobilise the sperm.Blocking the protein's actions should have no side effects because it is only active in sperm cells.Protein experiments in mice proved that the sperm they produced were slower and lacked the sense of direction of 'normal' sperm.They became so sluggish they couldn't break through the barrier surrounding the egg.Dejian Ren, of Harvard Medical School in Boston, where the breakthrough was made, said: "We think its going to be very useful for the development of male contraceptives."Susan Benoff, of North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, New York, says the finding may be a healthier long-term alternative than traditional hormonal treatments.She told the journal Nature: "Most male contraceptives in the pipeline are based on hormonal methods. Sperm count may not get back up to the usual level."The global market for contraceptives is worth billions of dollars and demand for a unisex pill is expected to be high.
