WORLD NEWS: Gender Difference On Toilet Trips A survey has found women visit the toilet more often than men, but don't spend as long in there. The Swiss study found women go five times a day on average and take an average of three and a half minutes. Men questioned went less, at three times a day, but spent an average of five minutes over their toilet trips. Marketing bureau IHA-GfM found a third of both sexes enjoyed reading books, magazines or newspapers on the loo, but two-thirds say they only do what they needed to. Five per cent of people admitted to making phone calls from the toilet, 4% smoking and 2% filling in crosswords. Half of those questioned didn't care about the colour of their toilet paper, but a third preferred white. Most didn't count the number of sheets they used, with older people more likely to do so. Among the quarter of those who did, 21% say they use only three sheets each time, 31% say they use 4 or 5 sheets, 27% use 10 sheets and 9% more than 11. More than a quarter of the Swiss people questioned say they fold the sheets before wiping, with younger people the most likely to just crumple the paper. The study estimated women living to be 82 have spent an average of 376 days on the toilet. Men, who live on average six years less, will have spent 291 days.
