Yours, Jack WORLD NEWS: Ex refuses romantic plea despite world's biggest rose bouquet A man's ex girlfriend is refusing to give their relationship another go despite him buying her the biggest ever bouquet of red roses. Manuel Birrento from Samora Correia in Portugal bought her 518 red roses - one for each day since they split up. He planned to deliver the bouquet by helicopter to her home in Figueira da Foz but couldn't because of bad weather. The bouquet which is 1.2 metres in diameter and weighs 28.5kg cost the 28-year-old engineer £550. The Guinness Book of World Records says it's the biggest rose bouquet ever sold by a florist in one order. The Correio de Manha website quotes him as saying: "She was surprised but is still very hurt because of an act of great stupidity on my part." The couple met at university in the mountain town of Covilha and went out with each other for three years. The press reports don't name the man's ex. TODAY'S LAME JOKE: Blonde Horseback Riding A blonde decides to try horseback riding, even though she has had no lessons or prior experience. She mounts the horse, unassisted, and the horse immediately springs into motion. It gallops along at a steady and rhythmic pace, but the blonde begins to slip from the saddle. In terror, she grabs for the horse's mane, but cannot seem to get a firm grip. She tries to throw her arms around the horse's neck, but she slides down the side of the horse anyway. The horse gallops along, seemingly impervious to its slipping rider. Finally, giving up her frail grip, the blonde attempts to leap away from the horse and throw herself to safety. Unfortunately, her foot has become entangled in the stirrup, she is now at the mercy of the horse's pounding hooves as her head is struck against the ground over and over. As her head is battered against the ground, she is mere moments away from unconsciousness when to her great fortune... Frank, the Wal-Mart greeter, sees her dilemma and unplugs the horse.
