Officers will patrol the Shah Alam Lake Garden around the clock to stop "immoral activities". The move comes at the same time VCDs and photographs of two couples having sex were obtained by officers. The Straits Times reports Datuk Mansor Ramli, head of the Selangor Islamic Affairs Department, told Malay daily Utusan Malaysia: "We set up the motorcycle squad to make it easier for our religious officers to patrol the area constantly and stop immoral activities there." He said the obscene photographs had not been taken at the Shah Alam Lake Garden, as previously thought, and they did not involve students. One official has already called for the parks in the state to be brightly lit following reports they had been turned into lovers' haunts by students. Residents in nearby estates have complained to the government they are embarrassed to visit or even pass by the parks because of the presence of courting couples in the dimly-lit areas.
