WORLD NEWS: Two women on trial for 'giving friend lovebites' Two Canadian women have gone on trial for assault for allegedly pinning down a friend and giving her lovebites. Prosecutors say Rhoda Pete and Deborah Lewis left a third woman with serious hickeys and bite marks on her upper body and legs. The women, of Kamloops, British Columbia, admit pinning the woman to a bed and giving her hickies but say it was "a spontaneous act" done in fun. Pete said she and Lewis were teasing the woman about her relationship with her boyfriend, who was in jail. As they tussled, they fell on to a bed, she said. Pete said she suddenly decided to give her friend hickies because it had once been done to her and she thought it would cause her friend some trouble with her boyfriend. "I gave her three hickies on her neck," Pete said. "Everyone was laughing. My intent was not to hurt her. We were just joking around. It was just a joke." Pete said the woman didn't resist or cry out. She said she and the woman were good friends before the hickies but have not talked much since then. The trial was adjourned until a later date.
