The findings come in a survey of 1,000 people by Oral-B, for National Kissing Day. More than three-quarters (77%) say lack of oral hygiene resulted in their worst kiss ever, while 21% say their partner's pucker is the problem. Leeds men came off worst, with 86% of women saying they need to both brush their teeth and hone their smooching skills. Preston saved the North's blushes with 85% admitting to flossing and brushing at least once a day. Some 60% of Geordie women prefer a passionate peck to a greasy fry-up, although the connection between kissing and high-cholesterol is not explained. Wolverhampton men bring a new meaning to the Black Country with 53% objecting to their partners' bad breath, the highest in the country. Londoners have a different dilemma: 65% say they are mainly left wondering whether one kiss or two on the cheek will do. Psychologist Jenni Trent Hughes, said: "The survey shows that the state of one's mouth matters just as much, if not more than the kissing technique. "What is the point of having a great technique if your breath smells? The mouth and breath really need attention if you want someone to get to grips with your technique."
