Yours, Jack WORLD NEWS: Key Stealing Ex Guard Sent To Prison A former prison guard in Indiana has been given a 60-day sentence in the jail where she once worked. Bethany R Shrack used to work at Delaware County Jail and will now spend two months there as an inmate. She admitted giving a handcuff key to Veshon Hicks who was awaiting sentence for 14 burglary-related convictions. Shrack, who had no previous convictions, told Judge Steven Caldemeyer she "made a bad decision." Hicks was sentenced to 60 years and an extra two years after pleading guilty to attempted escape. Shrack said: "I just really want to apologise to the Delaware County Jail and my parents." Shrack said she'd exchanged letters with Hicks, but the nature of their relationship wasn't discussed in court. Investigators found the key, along with letters Shrack had written to Hicks, in the prisoner's cell. "I don't know the exact reason he wanted the key," she said. Investigating officer Todd Daily said Hicks planned to use the key to escape from Ball Memorial Hospital after pretending to be ill. He said: "Hicks had a plan. It was pretty plausible." "What you did was a horrible, terrible act," the judge told Shrack. "But for the grace of God, somebody could have been dead."
