San Francisco tree-house man leaves after 12 years
A man who has lived in a tree-house near San Francisco for 12 years has given up his home.Besh Serdahely, 58 and his wife Thelma Caballero, 50, were served with an eviction notice in August.She left earlier this month and is now living in a care home.The pair attracted attention after a survey of parklands around the mountain in San Mateo county revealed their tree home was on county, and not state property, as previously believed.The San Jose Mercury News says Serdahely asked rangers to help him take the tree-house apart.The couple met at a San Francisco soup kitchen in the late 1980s and got married at City Hall in 1990.They spent their honeymoon in the tree before making it their home, 10 miles south of San Francisco.Friends of the couple describe them as gentle, welcoming and deeply caring of the wilderness around them.
