Naked handcuffed prisoner escapes
Police in South America are hunting a prisoner who escaped from hospital wearing only handcuffs. Sergio Redlich ran from the Bariloche hospital in Argentina where he was recovering from a urinary tract operation. Redlich had been in prison since 1990 after being found guilty of armed robbery. Detectives think he may have fled to Chile. Hospital director Norberto Delfino said. "The prisoner was undressed and handcuffed so it was very hard for him to escape. He also had a catheter sticking out of his penis." Deputy police commissioner Jose Armando Chavez said: "I blame the guard's carelessness for this. Who would have thought a naked handcuffed man would escape?" Newspaper Las Ultimas Noticias reports that Redlich already escaped once before in September 2001. That time he was recaptured within 24 hours. This time police say they have no leads and fear he may have already crossed the border into Chile.
