Porn star for Senate
A BRISBANE-BASED porn star yesterday claimed she had international backing to run for a Queensland Senate seat at the next election. Jodie Moore, the star of movies including Gutter Mouths 23, and All About Ass 7, said she would contest the election with a warchest of $250,000 from US "friends". Her backers are believed to include her new employer, Private Media Group, which is listed on the NASDAQ stock exchange with a market value of almost $100 million. Ms Moore previously contested the seat of Woodridge in the 2001 Queensland election, and stood for the federal seat of Ryan in a by-election in the same year. She received less than 5 per cent of the vote each time. This time round she will run on an eclectic platform that includes allowing women to walk about bare-breasted and a plan to send drug addicts to boot camp. Announcing her candidacy at the Brisbane Sexpo exhibition, Ms Moore took a shot at anti-porn campaigner De-Anne Kelly, the National Party member for Dawson in central Queensland. "Obviously she just needs some good sex – she's a bit sexually frustrated," Ms Moore said. "Maybe she needs to come to these kinds of shows to get more relaxed." Ms Kelly yesterday accused Queensland Premier Peter Beattie of pandering to minority interests for allowing the Sexpo to go ahead, and ignored Ms Moore's jibe. "She is obviously thinking about me but I don't spend any time thinking about Ms Moore," Ms Kelly said. "I note that Ms Moore has stood before and plainly she has not dazzled the voting public."
