WORLD NEWS: Nigerian deported after 'pill or condoms' question A Nigerian man has been deported from Canada for not knowing intimate details about his wife. Stanley Egbon took part in an arranged marriage with a Canadian woman in Toronto. Immigration officers say the couple, in separate immigration interviews, didn't know what contraceptive they used for sex, what they did on Christmas Day or how much they were paid for a car. Egbon married a Canadian woman in August 1999 so she could sponsor him into the country, the Federal Court of Canada heard, reports the Toronto Sun. "The marriage was not genuine. It was entered into for the purpose of gaining admission to Canada," the court ruled. "The sponsor stated her husband used condoms as a method of birth control," Madame Justice Eleanor Dawson said. "The subject stated his wife was on the pill." Egbon's counsel had argued the couple used different birth-control methods because "they are not ready to have children yet". Justice Dawson said the couple should have known whether condoms were being used for sex.
